International Partnerships and Projects

Camosun offers two delivery modes to meet the needs of international clients: in Canada, on one of our campuses in Victoria, or on-site at the partner鈥檚 location. We believe in capacity-building as an integral means of developing sustainable regional prosperity.

Training bilingual English teachers from Panama

Camosun is providing ESL and teacher training for in-service English teachers from Panama. The听Panama Biling眉e听program at Camosun includes classes in listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar; as well as instructional skills workshops, teaching methodology and indigenization seminars, elementary school visits and outdoor field trips. The听Panama Biling眉eprogram is funded by the Government of Panama as a national strategy to prepare Panama鈥檚 next generation for a bilingual culture.

Meeting the needs of industry in Tanzania

Camosun has been working with听Arusha Technical College听in Tanzania to develop a Pipe Works, Oil and Gas Engineering Diploma program to meet the needs of industry. Meet three instructors from Arusha who have taken technical and theoretical training in Camosun鈥檚听Pipe Trades听and听Welding听departments. This three-year project is part of the Improving Skills Training for Employment Program (ISTEP) funded by .

Where we work

Camosun International manages short-term customized programs to multi-year projects. We are active in a number of countries.

China

Camosun has worked with Baotou Vocational Training College in Inner Mongolia, China, to support pedagogy and teacher training through Instructional Skills Workshops and facilitator development programs.

Egypt

听and Camosun are the Aga Khan Foundation Canada鈥檚 technical partners for the Aswan Skills Development Program (ASDP) in Egypt. Key stakeholders and funders include the Aga Khan Development Network (), Egypt鈥檚 Ministry of Manpower and Immigration, and Global Affairs Canada. As part of the ASDP, Camosun is: advising AKDN Egypt on TVET equipment and classroom tools; training electrical instructors in competency-based education; and developing electrical training modules, including specialty components to meet the needs of the burgeoning solar energy industry in southern Egypt.

Jordan

Camosun is working with the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) on an initiative aimed at improving women's economic empowerment in Jordan. With the support of Global Affairs Canada, 鈥淲omen鈥檚 Economic Linkages and Employment Development (WE LEAD),鈥 will help remove the barriers that prevent women from accessing fulfilling careers in Jordan鈥檚 growing healthcare sector. Camosun, a member of WUSC's Canadian post-secondary education network, is supporting curriculum development for three Vocational Training Centres to deliver new programming in Health Care Support.听

Kenya

Lodwar Vocational Training Centre

Camosun collaborated with the College of the Rockies听to train teachers at Lodwar Vocational Training Centre (Turkana County) in Electrical, Plumbing and instructional techniques. This initiative was funded by the Lundin Foundation.

Kenya Education for Employment Program

Camosun is part of the Kenya Education for Employment Program (KEFEP), as the lead institutional partner with Kenya Coast National Polytechnic to support new skills training in Electrical and Hospitality Management in partnership with Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). In addition, Camosun is supporting听听in its partnership with Kenya's University and College Central Placement Service.

Mozambique

Camosun is working alongside Seneca College and the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland to provide leadership training to a number of institutions aiming to improve their management of vocational education as part of the听STEM听program. This is a three-year program funded by Global Affairs Canada through Colleges and Institutes Canada.

Panama

Camosun is part of the Panama Biling眉e program, an initiative funded by Panama's Ministry of Education to strengthen teaching methodologies and to enhance the language skills of Panamanians teaching English as a Second Language.

Tanzania

Camosun is听working with Arusha Technical College听to develop a Diploma in Pipe Works, Oil and Gas Engineering. Improving Skills Training for Employment Program (ISTEP) is a three-year partnership funded by Global Affairs Canada through Colleges and Institutes Canada. Camosun also partnered with College of the Rockies to support their TVET leadership and heavy duty mechanical work with Mwanza Regional Vocational Training and Service Centre.
